WHAT'S ON
We’ve rounded up the best Galentine’s Day dinners, meaning it’s time to rally the group chat

|

Ahh, Valentine’s Day. The one day a year where everyone is allowed to show off a disgusting amount of PDA and no one else can judge them for it. And while many of us want nothing more than to stay indoors on Friday night to avoid the scene, we might just have a kind of fun alternative.

Introducing Galentine’s Day, or weekend, for that matter. The relatively well accepted concept that your friends, can, in fact, be your soulmates. Because after all, we have them for LIFE. And that’s definitely something to celebrate.

Whether you’re looking to spend time just with the girls, wanting to wingman that one single friend, or even keen to mingle yourself, we’ve rounded up some of the best Galentine’s Day events in town.

Galentine’s Day at Lucky Prawn

Getting lucky has a different meaning this Valentine’s Day, as Marrickville’s hottest Chinese restaurant Lucky Prawn is putting on a ladies-only banquet. The ultra retro and seriously cool restaurant is putting on a $49 Valentine’s Day banquet on Thursday 13, giving you the perfect opportunity to celebrate your female friendships. If you love the vibes of Merivale’s Good Luck restaurant, this is like a cheaper (and probably better) version of it.

  • WHEN: Thursday 13 February
  • WHERE: Lucky Prawn, The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre Marrickville
  • HOW MUCH: $49
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Singles Pitch Night at Forrester’s

I think we’ve all been seeing those ‘pitch nights’ on TikTok, where your mates rally around to essentially sell you off the the highest bidder. Now, Forrester’s hosting their very own version. What’s more? All you need is one single friend, so it’s perfect for groups. Hello Darling is partnering with the Surry Hills pub to give each group five minutes to pitch your BFF’s best assets to a crowd of singles. You’ll have to apply to enter beforehand, meaning it’s time to sacrifice you’re extremely single friend in the name of love.

  • WHEN: Friday 14 February,
  • WHERE: Forrester’s, Surry Hills
  • HOW MUCH: Free entry
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.

Untied Bar Barangaroo

As expected, Untied Bar in Barangaroo is also getting in and amongst the action this Galentine’s Day. For the entire, they’re slinging enough $17 pink cocktails to have you forgetting why you even downloaded Hinge in the first place. Flavours include Pink Lemonade, Flamingolada, Raspberry Blossom and a Pink Hibiscus Spritz. This doesn’t sound dangerous at all.

  • WHEN: Monday 10 to Friday 14 February
  • WHERE: Untied Bar, Barangaroo
  • HOW MUCH: $17 cocktails
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
W Sydney Sunday Lunch

If you’re already locked in for Friday night plans but still want to do something with the girls, best to consider W Sydney’s ultra bougie Sunday Lunch offering. Starting at $99 per head, the iconic Darling Harbour hotel will be serving up a three-course shared menu alongside bottomless Ester Gin spritzes. And if you’re feeling extra special, you can even upgrade to the bottomless Veuve Clicquot and oysters package (a no brainer, really).

  • WHEN: Sunday 15 February, lunch service
  • WHERE: W Sydney, Darling Harbour
  • HOW MUCH: From $99 per person
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Mov’In Bed Beach Cinemas Galentine’s Night

We’ve been loving the Mov’In Bed Beach Cinema happening over summer at Barangaroo, and if you haven’t yet managed to nab a spot, consider this your sign. While there’s a week-long Valentine’s Day setup happening, you’ll be able to have your Galentine’s moment on Thursday with the showing of the ultimate girl film, The Devil Wears Prada. Snuggling up under the stars with your gals and hoeing into some pink burgers? Sounds like an ideal date night if you ask me.

  • WHEN: Thursday 13 February
  • WHERE: Mov’In Bed Beach Cinema, Barangaroo
  • HOW MUCH: From $12, bed tickets from $89
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
