WHAT'S ON
Here’s what’s on this Mother’s Day if you CBF to cook

|

Yes, Mother’s Day is this Sunday. It’s the day we get together as families and say ‘thank you mum’. Thank you for doing my washing. Thank you for picking me up at 2am that one time. Thank you for putting up with wayyy too much of all our bullshit, and still unconditionally loving us.

And while the day is a significant one, it’s also easily overlooked in the hustle and bustle of May. So if you’re like me and consistently forgetting to get your shit together in time, don’t worry, because there is still hope.

Whether you CBF to cook, don’t have the space to, or just feel like doing something a little bit more spesh, we’ve rounded up some truly fabulous venues hosting even more fabulous Mother’s Day brunches, lunches and dinners come this Sunday. Sure, some of them are a bit on the pricier side, but we’d say your mum deserves that and more.

Alright, here we go.

Mother’s Day at Opera Bar

Sure, it might be touristy, but sometimes there are places in Sydney that are actually worth the hype, and we 100% believe Opera Bar is one of those places. So if you’re looking for cracking views (and food, for that matter) this Sunday, you’ll be happy to know that Opera Bar are hosting their very own Mother’s Day brunch special from 10am. What’s more? The bar, which admittedly can run on the pricier side, is selling tickets for $75 per head, which also includes a glass of Prosecco on arrival. I’d say that’s decent value.

  • WHEN: Sunday 11 May, from 10am
  • WHERE: Opera Bar, Circular Quay
  • HOW MUCH: $75 per head
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.

Chez Blue Rozelle Long Lunch

Lovers of French food shouldn’t look past Chez Blue in Rozelle this Sunday, who are slinging an epic feast that you’ll be dropping your pants for. Think tuna tartare with potato galette, egg and green beans, steak frites and cheese soufflés (just to name a few). A ticket to the shared-style menu might set you back $75, but it’ll also come with a glass of French bubbles.

  • WHEN: Sunday 11 May, lunch seating
  • WHERE: Chez Blue, Rozelle
  • HOW MUCH: $75 per person
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Hendrick’s Gin High Tea

Go on, impress your mum with something a little different this weekend with the Hendricks Gin & Her special high tea menu offering they’re running from now until June. Hosted at the Hyatt Regency Sydney, the hotel has set up the Heritage Atrium with an intimate long table experience. Aside from the classic high tea treats, Hendrick’s will be serving up special gin cocktails alongside non-alcoholic options.

  • WHEN: Sunday 11 May, 2.30 – 4.30pm
  • WHERE: Lobby Lounge and Heritage Atrium at Hyatt Regency Sydney
  • HOW MUCH: $110 for adults, $69 for children
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
With Or Without You Screening

Something a little different if you’ve already got your wining and dining plans sorted for Mother’s Day. Directed by Kelly Schilling, Australian small film With Or Without You is releasing just in time for Mother’s Day, and you’ll be able to catch it at a select number of Sydney cinemas. The storyline follows the journey of a mother and daughter who powerfully reconnect and rebuild their relationship. Expect a deeply moving film that affirms the fierce strength of mother-daughter bonds.

Mother’s Day at Rekōdo

Let’s be real, there’s nothing quite like parking up alongside the harbour in Barangaroo for a few (or more) drinks. And our favourite destination to do exactly that, Barangaroo House, is thankfully hosting their very own Mother’s Day special at Rekōdo. While their à la carte menu will be available on the day, you also have the option to go all out with the $130 per head set menu if you’re wanting to say an extra big thanks to mum. Either way, mothers will be treated to a complimentary MoMo Spritz on arrival, as well as resident vinyl DJ’s playing tunes throughout the day into evening.

  • WHEN: Sunday 11 May, all day
  • WHERE: Rekōdo, Barangaroo
  • HOW MUCH: A la carte, or $130 set menu
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Mum Cha at Lucky Prawn

Honestly, I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say we all have a weakness when it comes to a yum cha moment. And if you agree with me, you’ll be glad to know that Lucky Prawn Restaurant at the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is hosting their very own ‘Mum Cha’ this Sunday. On top of a promised ‘prawn-filled twist’ on yum cha, they’re also giving you the option to pre-order bubbles, flowers and other merchandise to the table for arrival. In other words, this is our pick if you really don’t have your shit together.

  • WHEN: Sunday 11 May, all day
  • WHERE: Lucky Prawn Restaurant, Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre Marrickville
  • HOW MUCH: Varies
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
