WE'RE BACK BABY Oxford Street’s Carousel makes history as Australia’s first nightclub ranking in the world’s Top 100

It appears making your entire personality a dedicated hating account to Sydney nightlife might not, in fact, be the move. You heard me right. Thanks to a recent ranking released by Nightlife International yesterday morning, Carousel on Oxford Street has been officially marked as one of the top 100 nightclubs in the world.
Ranking 87 on the list of 100, Carousel by the organisation’s standards falls only 36 positions below the likes of uber-exclusive Berghain in Berlin. Rated the best nightclub in the world was Hi Ibiza, followed by Green Valley in Brazil and USHUAÏA Ibiza. In other words, I know where I’m booking my next holiday to next year.
Not only is it a massive feat as Australia’s first ever club to be named on the list, but Carousel only opened earlier this year. It’s quick rise through the ranks is one that maybe, just maybe, gives us a little slice of hope as to what’s to come on the Sydney scene. With already 50,000 patrons through its doors this year, it’s safe to say that we’re crossing our fingers and toes.
“Sydney genuinely feels like it is entering a new era of nightlife,” says owner and director, Kerry Wallace.
And it doesn’t stop there. SoundCloud recently reported that Australians listen to more dance music per capita than any country in the world. And while the supply may still be trying to catch up with the demand, So Sydney! has a little inkling that with a few more nightlife reforms, we might be back for good, baby.
