CONSPIRACY THEORY Ozzy Osbourne has died, so why is everyone now talking about Trisha Paytas’ baby?

|

This morning, the world learned that Ozzy Osbourne, the bat-biting, head-banging, leather-clad prince of darkness, has died at the age of 76. A pioneer of heavy metal and chaos incarnate, his death marks the end of an era.

But while the music world is in mourning, the internet, naturally, has taken things in a very different direction.

In a bizarre twist of timing (or fate, depending on how deep you are on conspiracy TikTok), Trisha Paytas gave birth to her third child just ten days ago, and the reincarnation rumours are back in full force.

If you’re not familiar with Trisha Paytas, congratulations on having a slightly more peaceful internet experience. She’s a YouTuber, podcaster, occasional pop singer and certified content trainwreck who has built a decades-long career on oversharing. From mukbangs to meltdowns to deeply unserious spiritual awakenings, Trisha has been one of the internet’s most chaotic main characters since the early 2000s. She’s also developed a very specific, and very unhinged, relationship with celebrity deaths.

On July 12, Trisha welcomed a baby boy named Aquaman Moses Paytas-Hacmon. Yes, you heard me correctly. He joins older siblings Malibu Barbie and Elvis. For weeks leading up to the birth, TikTokers speculated that the arrival of Trisha’s third baby would line up with the death of a major public figure. Most assumed it would be US President Donald Trump, but instead, ten days later, Ozzy Osbourne has now died. To no one’s surprise, the internet has already started to run wild.

This also isn’t the first (or, weirdly, second) time this has happened. Back in 2022, Trisha gave birth to her daughter Malibu Barbie on the very same day Queen Elizabeth II died, launching a viral (and wildly inappropriate) conspiracy theory that the Queen had been reincarnated into Trisha’s baby. Then in May last year, she gave birth to her second child just a month after Pope Francis passed. Now, history is repeating itself, or at least the internet’s doing its best to make sure it does.

Since Ozzy’s death, TikTok and Twitter have been flooded with people drawing connections between the rocker’s passing and Aquaman’s arrival. Memes, reaction videos and semi-serious conspiracy theories have dominated the timeline, with many declaring (once again) that Trisha has birthed the soul of a late icon.

To be clear: she hasn’t. Probably. But it’s the kind of chaotic poetry the internet loves.

Two of pop culture’s most unpredictable forces, Ozzy and Trisha, somehow entangled in the world’s most cursed reincarnation narrative. Is it real? No. Are people going to keep making videos about it anyway? Absolutely.
