RECAP TIME
MAFS home stays proves that all of our couples should probably just break up

|

NAFS Ryan and Jacqui

We’re getting to the pointy end of Married At First Sight now folks, and tonight saw the couples depart to their various hometowns to show their respective spouses what life would look when the cameras stop rolling.

And spoiler, life doesn’t look amazing for most of them!

Dave and Jamie are still on the rocks

Dave’s hoping two bunches of flowers will soften Jamie up ahead of home stays. “Did someone order a husband?” Dave asks at the door to a rather un- enthusiastic Jamie, who says she’s still uncomfortable in Dave’s presence and is reluctant to go to Melbourne.

In Melbourne, Jamie decides to not stay with Dave, who feels “shattered” by her decision, despite being the King of Low Effort over the last week.

Dave shaves his depression stubble for his meetup with Jamie and her sister, who asks Dave point blank if he’s falling in love with Jamie, to which he says no.

Dave is ready to “build at” their relationship, and Jamie’s sister asks how he can see a connection when he doesn’t have “love feelings”.

Okay, has Dave been good with communicating things? No. Should he be slammed for not being in love 6-8 weeks in? Also no!

Jamie’s sister drums into Dave that he’s feeling a really nice friendship, and drums into Jamie that she’s decided she’s in love with the bare minimum and is repeating old patterns.

Damn, get Jamie’s sister on the couch next season!

Paul and Carina visit Carina’s parents. Paul also gets a visit from Jesus Christ

Sorry, these two are a testament to the fact that just because you’re pretty, it doesn’t mean you’re interesting to watch.

The biggest storyline for this homestay is Paul and Carina facing their differences, as Carina brings him into her very Catholic home (complete with Jesus paraphernalia).

Paul suffers through a lunch being asked about his religious beliefs and says he’d be “open to religion”. There’s some light reprieve from Carina’s horny aunt, who thinks he has been sent down from heaven by God himself.

Anyway this home stay was about as boring as the church services I was forced to attend until I was 19. Moving on…

Jacqui and Ryan celebrate home stays by consistently insulting each other

Jacqui asks Ryan if he’d ever be open to moving to Manly and he’s not sold. “It’s important we can be cohesive and down to earth, the future looks uncertain,” Ryan says, as he doesn’t want to give up his mortgage and backyard for his dog, which tbh is kinda fair. Except Ryan is also based in Sydney, and they’re both acting like they live in separate countries.

For some reason, they start arguing about Ryan’s beard because Jacqui would rather Ryan be clean-shaven, and he wants to keep his beard. Jacqui then tells Ryan his brain is “so small” and Ryan calls her judgmental and pretentious.

Ryan says it’s looking like it’s “game over” and honestly bro, don’t threaten me with a good time here. Break up already!

Just kidding. Next minute, they’re holding hands and strolling through Manly as Jacqui takes Ryan to go get some flowers. They have an awkward face-off about who’s buying the flowers before Ryan finally whacks down his card.

Awhina and Adrian head to Perth as Adrian faces Cleo (again)

Half the storyline with these two revolves around whether Adrian is ready to see Awhina’s twin sister Cleo again after their disastrous family visits from last time.

“Are you looking forward to seeing my sister?” Awhina asks Adrian for the 107th time as they rehash their disagreement – you know, the one where Adrian’s sisters and former BFF acted like total mean girls – and Adrian is expecting an apology from Cleo for some reason.

Cleo says she’s filled with negative emotions when it comes to Awhina and Adrian’s relationship, calling it “fake” because she’s only ever heard the negatives about the relationship.

Adrian says “God works in mysterious ways” when asked if the two are going to do long distance, and then tells Cleo that Awhina wasn’t actually crying the last time she visited. Apparently, she had a “puffy face” because she had been sleeping.

Rhi and Jeff allegedly went home together

We have no idea, they’re not dramatic enough. They’re probably working out and eating fruit.
