WHAT'S ON A fashion rave is coming to White Bay Cruise Terminal this Saturday

|

Sydney spends a lot of time talking about wanting more culture. More nightlife. More emerging artists. More reasons to leave the house after 7pm. And luckily for all of us, MODA Designer AW26 is making a compelling case for what that could look like.

This Saturday night, the team is bringing their Sydney AW26 show to White Bay Cruise Terminal for a colossal six-hour event that can only be described as part runway show, part rave. 13 independent and emerging designers will showcase their collections on a sprawling 200-metre runway backed by live curated tracks, all while Caravin Potts Point and Hello Darling take care of the food and drink.

And while one might expect the event to cater for the niche Sydney fashion scene, organisers tell us they’re expecting a crowd around the 1,200-person mark.

So, what exactly is MODA?

Emerging designers are selected and offered the opportunity to showcase their collections free of charge. They gain publicity, accreditation and media assets in doing so. In other words, all the kinds of things that actually matter when you’re trying to turn a small label into a business.

The production is also properly considered. Music is carefully curated to match not just each designer, but each look. The result? A show that’s closer to an underground fashion rave than a polite industry presentation with a playlist in the background.

For the audience, the appeal is pretty simple. A night out that happens to have a serious runway at the centre of it. You get emerging designers before they are everywhere, cracking live music, food, drinks, and a crowd that makes for perfect people watching.

Who’s in this year’s lineup?

This year’s designer lineup includes Abigail-Anne, Asha Jasper, Francesca Potamianakis, Imagery, Juna Elliott, Knot Rags, Lychee Alkira, Phacoste, Sage Avenue, SHESADESIGNER, Sunday, Sleight of Hand and Tasman Banks.

On music duties are d2motor, the project of D.A.U.G and Massi, LUSTII, a Lustwell b2b Tiisha project, and Ari Kiko.

So, if you’re still scratching your head for plans this Saturday, consider booking a last min ticket to the show. It all kicks off from 5:30pm and tickets start from $69. After all, it’s these kinds of events that Sydney needs more of.
