Spotted: Sydney Sweeney arriving in Sydney. A chic coincidence, or a deeply committed bit of nominative determinism?
The Euphoria star was seen making a low-key entrance to Sydney Airport yesterday morning, with pictures obtained by So Sydney! showing the actress keeping things firmly under the radar.
The actress arrives in Australia off the back of what has been a particularly noisy few weeks online. Most recently, Sweeney made things Instagram official with well loved (lol) music executive, Scooter Braun. Posting a Stagecoach carousel on Friday, you can imagine the internet’s response of calm, measured reflection.
Sweeney has also been at the centre of renewed conversation around Euphoria Season 3, with parts of her storyline as Cassie attracting backlash online. Recent reports have pointed to criticism around the character’s more provocative arc this season, including backlash to a particularly controversial look tied to the show’s third season (iykyk).
Reportedly, the Hollywood actress is in Australia for work. Production recently kicked off on the Gold Coast for the live-action film, Gundam, which stars Sweeney alongside Noah Centineo. But we’d be lying if we said the timing couldn’t be more perfect for someone wanting to keep a low profile.
Sure, Sydney has paparazzi, but it also has beaches, boutique hotels, $28 salads and an entire eastern suburbs ecosystem built around pretending not to look at famous people while absolutely looking at famous people.
