SUBTLE FORESHADOWING
Peter Dutton’s media bus broke down in the CBD this morning, and now I’m laughing

If the miserable weather, annoyingly long television ads, or just overall irritability and tension in the air hasn’t already given it away, let me remind you that we’ve officially hit election week. Yes, that’s right, it’s the time where two balding middle aged men in slightly different fonts battle it out in the court of public opinion.

And while the week is undoubtedly one of the most important ones to happen on the Australian political calendar, it typically also comes with a much needed dose of humour and irony.

This morning, we received exactly that, with Coalition leader Peter Dutton’s media bus quite literally getting stuck on Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD. I mean, talk about hitting a roadblock.

How many balding men does it take to wedge a Peter Dutton bus off a busy CBD median strip, you ask? Approximately five, but not without the help of a tire jack and plank of wood reluctantly donated by a local cafe. I mean, the irony really is priceless.

The Monday morning hiccup comes as yet another hit to Dutton’s ego kicking off the final election week, having lost to adversary PM Anthony Albanese in last night’s final debate aired on Channel 7. In that debate, 50% of the panel of 60 uncommitted voters awarded the win to Albo, while only 25% to Dutton. The remaining group remained undecided. The outcome is also consistent with Newspolls most recent survey, which has revealed that Labor continues to lead in the polls at 52-48.

Only time will tell whether the bus breakdown is merely subtly foreshadowing what’s to come. Until then, all we can do is sit back, grab out the popcorn, and watch the shit show at the fuck factory go down.
