PROST! Your comprehensive guide to Oktoberfest in Sydney if Munich was a CBF this year

|

Yes, it’s that month again where drinking steins of beer by the litre and saying ‘Prost!’ instead of cheers becomes socially acceptable again.

That’s right, Oktoberfest is officially back, which also means that venues across Sydney are getting in and amongst the action. So whether you missed out on that trip to Munich this year, or just need an excuse to get on the piss, we’ve got you sorted.

All set? Here are the best Oktoberfest events happening in Sydney this season.

Oktoberfest in The Gardens

If you’re really looking to lean into the bit this Oktoberfest season, look no further than the official Oktoberfest party happening at The Domain next weekend. What’s more? There’s a whole round of bonus release tickets still up for grabs. There’ll be proper bier halls, food stalls and roving entertainment to distract you from the fact that you have just consumed 3L of beer.

  • WHEN: Saturday 25 October, from 1pm
  • WHERE: The Domain
  • HOW MUCH: Bonus Release tickets are $89
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Oktoberfest at Hay St Market

Hay St Market is going full Bavarian this weekend, transforming into a mini Munich for three days of steins, schnitzels and questionable lederhosen. Expect sizzling bratwurst, crispy pork knuckle, pretzels the size of your head and enough apple strudel to fuel a small village. It’s family-friendly, but honestly, the beer helps.

  • WHEN: Friday 17 to Sunday 19 October
  • WHERE: Hay St Market, Paddy’s Markets Haymarket
  • HOW MUCH: Free to enter
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Oktoberfest at The Sackville

Rozelle’s favourite local is turning its car park into a full-blown Bavarian bier hall for one glorious, boozy day this Saturday. Expect steins of 4 Pines Festbier, bratwurst loaded with sauerkraut, salted pretzels the size of your head, and enough schnapps to make you yodel. Live entertainment kicks off from 11am, so dust off the lederhosen and settle in.

  • WHEN: Saturday 18 October, from 11am
  • WHERE: The Sackville, Rozelle
  • HOW MUCH: Free entry

Oktoberfest Street Party at Munich Brauhaus

The Rocks is going full Bavaria for one massive day of beer, bratwurst and yodelling chaos this Saturday. Munich Brauhaus is shutting down the street for steins, live bands, keg tappings, stein-holding comps and enough oompah music to haunt your dreams. Your $25 ticket gets you a Munich Lager, a pretzel and an Oktoberfest hat, which honestly feels like good value if you ask me.

  • WHEN: Saturday 18 October, from 11am
  • WHERE: Munich Brauhaus, The Rocks
  • HOW MUCH: Tickets are $25
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Oktoberfest Fridays at The Bavarian

Every Friday, The Bavarian is going full Munich: steins, schnitzels and staff in lederhosen included. Nab the $19 stein-and-pretzel combo or tackle the Munich Platter stacked with pork knuckle, schnitzels and sausages. Expect oompah beats, endless beers and zero regrets until Saturday morning.

  • WHEN: Every Friday until 31 October
  • WHERE: All The Bavarian venues
  • HOW MUCH: Free entry
  • CHECK IT OUT HERE.
