SAY CHEESE Smile 2 Australian Film Premiere red carpet arrivals at SXSW Sydney

Horror film fans, listen up. The famed Smile 2 releases today, so consider this your sign to book that ticket to George Street HOYTS and forego sleep for a week. After Director Parker Finn’s roaring success of the 2022 release, we’re being pulled back into a vortex of pure psychological terror.

How fun.

Last night, in partnership with SXSW Sydney, the producers rolled out the purple carpet to offer some of our homegrown stars a premiere sneak peak of the movie. Catch Tim Robards, Wes Cortas, Justin Hill, Dani Dacic and Jamie Azzopardi all in attendance, alongside others.

Now, before I get to the fashion, there’s a blatantly obvious irony that I have to address. Why the fuck is no one smiling? The movie is literally called Smile 2. Like, come on guys, those closed mouth pouts might be your vibe, but you’ve got to be kidding me. Sophie Love, Faye Bryson and Taliesin Don, I’m looking at you.

Who’s the biggest culprit, you ask? THE DIRECTOR HIMSELF. Parker Finn looks like he’s literally seen an entity from the movie. In fact, after a brief Google, I’m struggling to find any photo of him smiling. Idk, maybe that’s some creative direction that’s going above my head, but I’m feeling confused.

Anyway, now that’s off my chest, we can move onto the fashion. It was a mixed bag, tbh. I’m also confused about what the dress code was. Best dressed goes to Deauvanne Jarvis and Jamie Azzopardi. Cudos to Dani Dacic for, as always, being on theme. Everyone else I could kind of take or leave tbh.
