HOW EMBARRASSMENT Amazon’s revealed Australia’s most asked question to Alexa this year, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves

From Spotify Wrapped, to MECCA Beauty roundups, December truly is the month where our deepest, darkest secrets and habits truly do come to the surface. Naturally, Amazon Australia made no exception to this. This week, the mega-corp gave us insight into the millions of questions us Aussies have been badgering poor Alexa with this year.
Now, let’s forget about the fact that Alexa is literally listening to us for a moment. After all, it’s time we enjoyed some humorous respite. And before I reveal Australia’s most asked question, can I just preface this by saying that clearly it’s time we all brush up on some basic cooking skills. Because seriously guys, this one’s shameful.
Alright, ready? Australia’s most asked question to Alexa this year was none other than (*drumroll*).
“Alexa, how long do you cook an egg?”
Yes, you heard me correctly. It appears that Australians across the country continue to be befuddled by basic human tasks and functions. Perhaps the only thing more curious is the total lack of clarity as to what type of eggs said person is cooking. Are we talking scrambled? Poached? Boiled? Honestly, the questions go on and on.
And it doesn’t just stop there. As it turns out, us Aussies also have a penchant for being insulted by Alexa. In fact, we’re four times more likely to ask Alexa to insult us than to throw us a compliment. Our obsession with copping flack led to the Australian team rebuilding an entire ‘insult function’, which was later adopted worldwide. In other words, not only do we need to learn how to boil eggs, but some of us would probably benefit from a trip to the shrink.
To top it all off, it appears a large portion of us still don’t really know what the capital of Australia is. Because that’s not concerning at all. And if you’re looking to test your own Sydney knowledge, head over here and take the quiz for yourself.
