IDIOT OF THE WEEK
Dumbest man in Sydney videos himself doing push ups in an aircraft turbine. And yes, he’s been arrested.

If there was ever additional evidence to prove that the pre-frontal cortex doesn’t develop until the age of 25 years, it was this. Meet Preslie Ginoski, the 23-year old bodybuilder and (former) Sydney Airport baggage handler that’s landed himself in hot water with the police.

Back in June last year, Ginoski decided it would be a grand idea to film six separate videos of himself entering the airport’s restricted area, take his shirt off, jump into an aircraft turbine and start doing pushups. Then, in January, he uploaded the video to TikTok, where it quickly received over 2 million views, before being taken down for violating community guidelines. By February, the AFP arrested him.

The police have charged him with one count of threatening aviation security, as well as one charge of failing to display security clearance in an airside security zone. According to the AFP, Ginoski “used his position as a baggage handler” to “exploit” a restricted area by “removing his clothes” and recording the stunt.

According to Ginoski, he “just wanted people to get a laugh about it”, he told Daily Mail Australia, “like it’s (as if) I’ve just got off the plane and I’m going to work out”. And while we’re grateful for the clarification of his creative choices, we’d argue that maybe captioning the video “Quick Pump Before Flight” doesn’t exactly align with his original vision, either.

My best bet is that a trip to Downing Centre tomorrow and the risk of being fined upwards of $15,000 might be the exact wake up call this man needs. Then again, I’m not quite sure if there’s any cure to this level of stupidity.
