Here's everything we know so far about MAFS Season 12 couple Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels

It may feel like Season 11 of MAFS only just finished, but we’re already being blessed with updates on what’s to come for Season 12. Fair warning though, if spoilers aren’t your thing, tap out now.

Over the course of July we’ve sniffed out and tracked down some of the MAFS weddings currently in their filming stage. And while we won’t get to watch them on-screen until early next year, we’re doing a deep dive into everything we know so far so that you can stay ahead of the game.

First couple on the block is Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels.

Who is Rhi Disljenkovic?

Daily Mail revealed Rhi as one of the first confirmed contestants for the season earlier this month, after she was spotted filming her backstory in her hometown of Melbourne. The glamorous, IT account manager also reviews various fitness spaces around Melbourne with her best friend, Shayna. Together, their instagram account has amassed over 2,000 followers over the past two years.

A friend tells Daily Mail, “she is a doll who loves to have fun but also wears her heart on her sleeve”.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for the show, I say.

Who is Jeff Gobbels?

What’s even more interesting is her pairing off to Jeff Gobbels. On paper, the partnering makes a lot of sense. Gobbels, who’s also from Melbourne, is an avid footy player and the Founder and Director of Splash Vodka. He’s also dipped his toes into acting in the past, having featured on a Neighbours episode in 2017 as well as playing minor characters in a few films. What’s more? Rhi is an awfully close resemblance to Gobbel’s ex-wife (and ex-housemate), who he married in 2019.

He’s clearly got a thing for brunettes.

What we know so far…

It turns out Gobbels may have beaten the producers to the punch. Upon filming the Gunners Barracks wedding earlier in July, we all were shocked to learn that Rhi and Jeff ACTUALLY know each other.

Yahoo News reports that not only do they know each other, but they apparently had a casual fling around this time last year. After being introduced by Australian Survivor star, Abbey Holmes, the two had a period of unofficial canoodling before calling it off. However, they have reportedly kept in touch, often visiting the same gym classes at Hurt Locker together (how romantic).

Despite even the producers’ seeming surprise, it’s difficult to tell whether this was an intentional setup, or just plain ol’ coincidence. Perhaps this second shot at love will get the two back on track? We won’t truly know for a while yet. Nevertheless, our spidey senses are still saying this partnership will stay very much in the friendzone.

Earliest last month, we spotted the two strolling around Green Square. While they looked very comfortable in each other’s company, the more-than-platonic chemistry wasn’t quite there yet. That, or they’re just super mindful of leaving plenty of room for jesus between the two of them. I guess time will tell.
