SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
MAFS couple Carina and Paul knowing each other from Perth serves as further proof that Western Australia is, in fact, inbred

Episode 1 of MAFS might is done. But did you really think the producers would only be serving up one plot line for us to obsess over? Obviously not.

And while our jaws may still be on the floor thanks to sister-of-the-bride Tamara’s outrageous behaviour at Eliot and Lauren’s wedding, we’re also still majorly reeling over the fact that bride and groom Carina and Paul LITERALLY ALREADY KNOW EACH OTHER.

I tell you what, this season really will propel me into a disagnosable conniption.

It appears that the MAFS producers are conducting not only a social experiment this season, but a scientific one. Because there’s no way they paired two young, attractive people from Perth together without the slightest inkling that they’ve probably already met. Let’s be real, the longstanding theory that Perth is, in fact, inbred, is being tried and tested in the ultimate controlled space.

Let me catch you up to speed…

Tonight’s first ceremony saw 31-year old Carina Mirabile and 30-year old Paul Antoine tie the knot at Sydney’s Town Hall. And while there were many a smile-for-the-camera moments, the post-ceremony revelation that Paul ghosted her after a date in 2023 shook pretty much everyone to the fucking core.

Some (ie Paul), was pleased to discover the fateful encounter. Others (ie Carina), however, were less than happy about the situation. I mean, after all, it is called Married At First Sight. Not Married After First Date Then Ghosted.

According to Paul, he “wasn’t in the right headspace” at the time of their original date, and “didn’t want to drag her into it”, despite really liking her. And if that doesn’t sound like every fuck boy I’ve ever dated then I don’t know what does.

Perhaps the real reason for his ghosting was the fact that Paul was fresh off the boat from filming another dating-reality TV show, The Real Love Boat, back in 2022. And I’d bet on my firstborn child that he probably whipped out a bit of his French there, too. Ahh, the language of love. How beautiful it deceives.

Regardless, it appears that Carina has mustered up all her strength to gracefully move past the situation. And let’s be real, we know Paul is quietly fist pumping the air as we speak (as he should).

In fact, we’re even placing bets that this is one of the couples who might just go the distance. And by distance, we mean the three months of filming. After all, how could we possibly expect anyone on the show to actually stay together forever? It’s not like they’re getting married or anything.

Oh wait.
