WOOF Taron Egerton gets the dogs out alongside Margot Robbie and Sarah Snook as Tropfest returns

|

Oh, you thought we were done with the Wuthering Heights premiere? Think again. February has officially become Hollywood migration season, and Sydney is once again playing host with zero signs of slowing down.

Last night, the black carpet was rolled out for the long-awaited return of Tropfest. After a six-year hiatus, the world-renowned short film festival is officially back, injecting some much-needed culture into the group chat.

Leading the arrivals, you ask? None other than Jury President Margot Robbie, casually reminding us she can headline a blockbuster and an arts festival in the same breath. She was joined by Sarah Snook, Bryan Brown, Taron Egerton, and, notably, Taron Egerton’s toes (more on that below).

Yes, the Kingsman star opted for birkenstocks on the red carpet. A fashion faux pas? Absolutely not. This man is leaning all the way into his trip down under and to that I say bless your soul and your open-toed confidence Taron Egerton.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be a Sydney event without the presence of Justin Hemmes and co. Why were they there? Theories abound, but I’m choosing to believe it’s because Mr Wong now ranks just below the Harbour Bridge as a must-visit landmark. Don’t ask me to explain it.

In slightly more wholesome news, Sydney-based filmmaker Lianne Mackessy took home the $50,000 top prize for her film Crescendo, leaving the night both glamorous and gainful. If you’re here for cinema, congratulations. If you’re here for celebrities, scroll on, the carpet delivered.
