RED CARPET An inside look into the ‘Freakier Friday’ Premiere, where Hollywood meets…Bondi Junction Westfield

|

Last night, Sydney rolled out the purple carpet for the stars attending the new Freakier Friday premiere. And by “rolled out”, we really mean rolled it right through Bondi Junction Westfield. Yes, the stars were quite literally shining under the same roof as Kmart and the sushi train. Yes, we’re still laughing about it.

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis touched down looking every bit the Hollywood royalty they are, reprising their iconic mother-daughter duo more than twenty years after the OG Freaky Friday. And while both worked the red carpet for us media folk, apparently fans felt rather snubbed after waiting for hours to secure a quick pic. Perhaps we can blame it on the jet lag?

And if that wasn’t enough, Tyra Banks was there too, reuniting with Lohan 25 years after Life‑Size in a crossover no one saw coming. Of course, her new ice cream brand Smize & Dream was also slipped in for a sneaky lil’ cross-collab feature.

Throw in the likes of Tammy Hembrow, Sophia Begg, and a number of other Aussie stars, and the whole thing had the chaotic glamour of an A-list red carpet paired with some serious movie nostalgia. After all, Bondi Junction might give off a “meet you at the food court” vibe, and it might not have the sparkle of Leicester Square or Hollywood Boulevard, but let’s be real, it kind of didn’t matter. The lights were bright, the sequins were blinding, and the star power was undeniable.

The film itself drops in Aussie cinemas on 7 August, and this time we’re promised even more identity‑confused chaos, costume changes, and nostalgia than you thought possible.
