MOBY DICK Jennifer Coolidge was spotted pushing a trolley through Bondi, and now we know why

|

There are few people who could push a supermarket trolley through Bondi wearing headphones and somehow turn it into a minor local mystery. Jennifer Coolidge is one of those people.

Yesterday, the actor prompted rounds of double-takes and at least a few hopeful theories that she had quietly moved into the eastern suburbs.

Sadly, it was not quite that spontaneous.

The whole thing was part of a new Audible campaign. It centres on the idea that a good audiobook can make even the most painfully mundane errands feel slightly less bleak.

“What I love about audiobooks is that at the end of the day, you can blow through everything that you’d normally find tedious because it’s not taking your full attention,” Coolidge said. “You’re able to get engrossed in a story and forget you fully tiled your bathroom because you listened to Moby Dick.”

It’s admittedly a stronger endorsement than most brand campaigns manage to extract.

Audible is now extending the stunt beyond Coolidge by fitting supermarket trolleys with built-in headphones, giving shoppers the chance to listen to an audiobook while doing their groceries.

The “listening trolleys” will be available at Harris Farm Bondi from Friday 31 July to Monday 3 August.
