IT'S HAPPENING The rumours are true, Laneway 2025 is headlining Charli XCX AND singlehandedly saving the Australian live music scene.

If you’re chronically online like us, then you’ll know that we’ve all been biting our nails since last week, when we spotted this Laneway billboard popping up in Australian and NZ major cities.
It got us, alongside the entirety of TikTok thinking. Is Laneway actually bringing Charli XCX to the February festival?! Or are they playing some kind of sick joke?
This morning (or more like 45 minutes ago to be precise), the team finally put the rumours to rest – announcing the entire festival lineup AND confirming that mother herself would, in fact, be headlining.

*Cue internal screams*.
But wait, that’s not all. Because as much as we loooove Charli, it would be unfair to go without mentioning that the entire lineup is actually killer. Clairo, Beabadoobee, Bicep and Barry Can’t Swim will also all be in attendance. Anyone whose ever been to an Aussie festival, or has basic music taste, will be able to tell you that this one is a cracker. In fact, I’d go so far to say that it’s been years since little us down under have scored so well.
The cherry on top? After a year of festival cancellations and last-minute artist drop outs, it’s no surprise that we were increasingly feeling disheartened by the state of the Australian live music scene. And it appears Laneway saw the dire situation, and said ‘Yeah, nah’, because they might just singlehandedly be doing the Lord’s work on this one.
Expect tickets to be a hot commodity for this one. The Afterpay pre-sale goes live at 10am on October 15, and we wouldn’t be surprised if all tickets are gone more or less immediately. Let the games begin.
