WHAT'S ON Here’s everything you need to know about what’s going down this month of March

BY: Kartya Vucetic

Alas, summer might have come and gone, but that is certainly no reason to not start locking plans in for March. Besides, the weather is less oppressive, everyone’s back from their aggressively long holidays, and Sydney is in full 2025 swing.
Don’t believe me? Just wait, because this month just might be the best one yet of this year. On the music front, highlights include Dua Lipa (mother herself), Kaiit at Mary’s Underground (free), and HIVE Festival at Manning Bar, which is bringing a slice of Berlin to Sydney. Other highlights include the Lakemba Night markets, the Unbound Art Show and the All Ears Album Listening Series, all happening this month.
Like I said, it’s a big one.
So what are you waiting for? I declare it time to whip out those Google calendars, activate that group chat, and lock some seriously good shit into the schedule. Here’s the best events happening in Sydney this month. Don’t feel like reading? Don’t worry, you can listen to it all over here.
Lakemba Nights During Ramadan
Image: City of Canterbury Bankstown
After its record breaking success last year, the Lakemba Nights During Ramadan markets are officially back and bringing some of the best food, culture and tradition to Sydney. Operating during the Ramadan period, the markets attracted over 1.5 million people last year, and for good reason. The global food bazaar plays host to over 60 food market stalls and trucks, so a good feed is 100% on the cards.
- WHEN: Every Thursday to Sunday until Sunday March 30, 6pm to 2am
- WHERE: Lakemba
- HOW MUCH: Free entry

Sydney Streets
Image: City of Sydney
Sydney Streets might be becoming too popular for its own good (Stanley St last month was a nightmare), but we’re still gonna recommend it. This month, Harris Street, Glebe Point Road and Redfern Street are all being taken over on Saturdays for a day-to-evening street party filled with music, performers and al fresco dining. If Darlinghurst’s last rendition was anything to go by, some of these can get pretty out of hand crowd wise, so best to get there before 5pm when everything starts to pack out.
- WHEN: Saturday 8, 15 and 29 March, 11am to 10pm
- WHERE: Harris Street, Glebe Point Road and Redfern Street (respectively)
- HOW MUCH: Free entry

Jameson’s Distilled Sounds Tour
Image: Supplied
Free live music that’s actually half decent is rare to come by nowadays, so when something slips across our desk, you best believe we’re going to tell you about it. This month, Jameson’s is presenting it’s Distilled Sounds Tour that will travel Australia and New Zealand throughout March. The tour’s highlight, however, is undeniably the free concert by ARIA Award-winning artist, Kaiit, on Thursday 20 March at Mary’s Underground. You’ll even score a free drink upon entry, as well as access to some of Jameson’s whiskey tastings and specials.
- WHEN: Thursday 6, Saturday 15 and Thursday 20 March
- WHERE: Mary’s Underground, Circular Quay
- HOW MUCH: Free (RSVP for free drink)

All About Women
Image: Sydney Opera House
It’s International Women’s Day this month, and the Sydney Opera House’s annual All About Women program is back for another weekend of inspirational, challenging and deeply interesting panel discussions. Tickets to a number of the talks are still available, and some standouts for us include Wild At Heart with Gina Chick, The Lasting Harm hosted by Grace Tame, and Feminist Roast. But it’s probably worth checking out the full program over here.
- WHEN: Saturday 8 to Sunday 9 March
- WHERE: Sydney Opera House
- HOW MUCH: Varies

The Unbound Art Show
Image: Barnados
Your opportunity to get some culture into you this month is sorted thanks to The Unbound Art Show happening on Thursday 20 March. For one night only, the National Art School’s Cellblock Theatre will be opening their doors in partnership with Barnados to host their annual fundraising art show. You’ll be able to catch local emerging artists alongside established names all under the same exhibition, with a diversity of mediums, tastes and budgets.
- WHEN: Thursday 20 March, 6pm to 10pm
- WHERE: National Art School, Darlinghurst
- HOW MUCH: $75 adult tickets
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Dua Lipa
Image: Rolling Stone
The queen of pop herself, Dua Lipa, is arriving on Sydney’s shores late this month for three nights, and you wouldn’t believe that there are still tickets remaining. The British pop sensation (and my style icon mother) will be playing at Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights later this month, which means it’s time to rally the girls, I say.
- WHEN: Wednesday 26, Friday 28 and Saturday 29 March
- WHERE: Qudos Bank Arena
- HOW MUCH: Final tickets from $132
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
St Patricks Day Parade and Festival
Image: The Rocks
I think we could all do with some luck of the Irish right now, and what better timing than with St Patricks Day happening this month. Of course, you can expect every Irish pub in town (as well as Bronte Beach) to be heaving, but if you’re looking to take part in the official celebrations then it’s best to head over to the Rocks on the weekend of the 15th. There, you’ll find Irish dancing, food stalls and enough whiskey to drown a tiny leprechaun.
- WHEN: Saturday 15 to Monday 17 March
- WHERE: The Rocks
- HOW MUCH: Free entry
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
King Stingray
Image: Rolling Stone Australia
One of Australia’s best bands on the rise, King Stingray, are playing a one-night only show at Enmore Theatre this month, so it’s about time you nabbed a ticket. The band blew up after their Triple J rendition of Yellow by Coldplay, and the Arnhem Land rock band have been going from strength to strength ever since. If you’re a fan of Royal Otis, then you’ll 100% get around this.
- WHEN: Thursday 20 March, from 7.30pm
- WHERE: Enmore Theatre, Enmore
- HOW MUCH: Tickets from $70
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Titanique: The Musical
Image: Titanique: The Musical
We love Celine Dion. We love the movie Titanic. But honestly, never in a million years did we think we’d be combining the two icons in the one sentence, let alone the same show. If you’re confused, let me explain. Titanique: The Musical is the weird, wild and wonderful musical, where the story of Jack and Rose is told from Celine Dion’s perspective. It was originally a one-night-only production in LA back in 2017, but quickly took off from there. The off-Broadway parody won three awards at the Lucille Lortel Awards in 2023, and now, the show’s hit Sydney and the shores of The Grand Electric in Surry Hills. We reckon it’s worth giving a shot.
- WHEN: Until Sunday 30 March
- WHERE: The Grand Electric, Surry Hills
- HOW MUCH: From $75
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Picnic At Hanging Rock
Image: Sydney Opera House
Dinner and a show is sorted this month, thanks to the Opera House’s debut of Picnic At Hanging Rock. Widely recognised as one of Australia’s most iconic pieces of contemporary literature, Director Ian Michael has partnered with Sydney Theatre Company to deliver the, “beguiling modern myth, boldly reimagined”. Tickets also start at $60, which is just enough to impress a date without sending yourself broke.
- WHEN: Monday 17 February to Saturday 15 April
- WHERE: Sydney Opera House
- HOW MUCH: Tickets from $60
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Mov’In Bed Beach Cinema
Image: Supplied
Just because summer is over, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make the most of these fleeting warm evenings. If you’re in agreement, then it’s probably worth heading down to Barangaroo to check out the Mov’In Bed Beach Cinema that’s in it’s final month before hibernation. Wondering what it is? Exactly what you think, really. Hundreds of queen size beds parked up on the sand right next to the harbour. Honestly, this one’s putting any other standard outdoor movie cinema to shame in Sydney, 10/10 recommend.
- WHEN: Until Saturday 22 March
- WHERE: Sydney Harbour Park, Barangaroo
- HOW MUCH: Sand tickets $12, bed tickets $89
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Holi Festival Sydney
Image: Darling Harbour
India’s most colourful festival, Holi, is having its own Sydney celebration in Darling Harbour this month. Across the weekend of the 15th, Tumbalong Park will be painted in colour, song and dance to honour the triumph of good over evil, and the love of Krishna and Radha in Hinduism. On top of there being plenty of coloured powders that the festival is synonymous with, the event will also play host to food stalls, live music and other performances across the entire weekend.
- WHEN: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March, 11am to 10pm
- WHERE: Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour
- HOW MUCH: Tickets from $10
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
All Ears Album Listening Series
Image: Supplied
It appears that album listening parties are no longer only a thing you get to experience at Japanese vinyl bars, as the trend has officially made its way to Sydney shores. Across five nights this month, Sydney DJ Andrew Levins has specially curated “Australia’s first deep listening experience” at five Inner West breweries. Each chosen album will be played uninterrupted from start to finish, on Sonos speakers, exactly as the artist intended. From Pink Floyd to Outkast, there’ll be something for everyone.
- WHEN: Thursday 13, Wednesday 19 and 26 March, from 6pm
- WHERE: Multiple venues
- HOW MUCH: Tickets are $40
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
HIVE Festival
Image: Resident Advisor
If you’re on the countdown to that Euro summer later this year, you’re in luck. This month, Sydney is scoring a small slice of Berlin thanks to HIVE Festival happening at Manning Bar. Expect cutting edge, underground techno that features a lineup including BIIA, Hades, IDGA and Nicolas Julian. Tickets are selling super fast for this one and are unlikely to stay for long, so I’d be jumping on this one stat.
- WHEN: Friday 28 March, from 9pm
- WHERE: Manning Bar, USyd
- HOW MUCH: Tickets are $60
- CHECK IT OUT HERE.
