NEWS MAFS expert Mel Schilling has shared devastating cancer update

|

MAFS relationship expert Mel Schilling has shared a heartbreaking update about her cancer battle, revealing doctors have told her there is nothing further they can do after the disease spread to her brain.

Schilling posted the message to Instagram today, explaining that she was first diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023 after a tumour “the size of a lemon” was discovered during a scan. While the tumour was successfully removed, the cancer later spread to her lungs in early 2024.

Over the past two years, Schilling said she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy while continuing to film MAFS, and had been preparing to begin a clinical trial this month.

However, further tests have since revealed the cancer has spread to the left side of her brain. And despite undergoing radiotherapy, her oncology team has now told her there are no further treatment options available.

“My light is starting to fade — and quickly”, she wrote. “But I am still here, still fighting, and surrounded by the most incredible love”.

Her update has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow television personalities.
