MAFS 2.0 Introducing our newest bride to enter MAFS, cricket queen and television presenter Ankita Karungalekar

|

Another day, another wedding being filmed in the Married At First Sight hemisphere. Because let’s be real, it was unreasonable for us to expect that these producers would be doing anything but working around the clock to deliver a new show come January.

This morning, yet another couple entered the experiment. And while we wait to get those BTS piccies to you (don’t worry, they’re coming), what we can reveal is the name and identity of our latest bride to join MAFS Season 13.

Introducing Ankita Karungalekar…

Sports presenter, podcast host and former Miss India Australia runner-up, Ankita is already coming into the experiment with a seriously impressive career history. Currently, she works as a sports presenter for Cricket Australia on the Gold Coast, covering men’s Test and women’s One-Day Internationals on the ground. However, in the past, she’s also been associated with the Mumbai Indians and Mumbai City FC. In other words, this lady is the cricket queen.

And yet it appears Ankita’s achievements go beyond the pitch. Having graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with a Masters in Communications and Media, our lovely bride is already well-versed in the media space, which will undoubtedly come in handy down the track.

In her pageantry days, Ankita won runner-up of Miss India Australia, and was a Miss World Australia State Finalist in 2019. Currently I’m laughing, because I know Jacqui from this season is already screaming and crying into her phone. Ankita’s also previously hosted the Queens of Cricket podcast on CricFanTV, and featured in episode #270 on The SportsGrad Podcast. In other words, when it comes to anything media or cricket related, this lady is standing on business.

Another influencer….again?!

Now, now, I can hear you all through the screen. Why is MAFS still casting influencers in 2025 when the people beg for normies?? Because admittedly, it would be remiss for me to exclude the fact that Ankita, like Scott, has already been Instagram blue tickified and coming into the experiment boasting a generous 39K followers on Instagram.

But dare I say Ankita might just be the exception we’re all willing to grant. After all, her social media audience has mostly grown in relation to her full-time professional career as a presenter – and surely that’s a different thing compared to Scott McIdiot and his obviously clout-chasing ways. Yes? No? Idk, but I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.

Either way, welcome Ankita to the snake pit. We have high hopes for you, so please, please don’t let us down.
