2024 WRAPPED
As we say sayonara to 2024, we’re reliving some of the best So Sydney! moments this year

|

It might be one hell of a hot take, but we’re calling it. 2024 was a good year for the team here at So Sydney! And as we approach the final few hours of the annum, we can’t help but feel, well, a tad bit sentimental.

From launching our little independent outlet less than eight months ago, to reaching readers and viewers not just from Sydney, but across the world, it’s safe to say that our gratitude journals are very full rn. We’ve come a long way, and there’s still a long way to go, but all we can say for now is an enormous thank you to all of you who’ve supported so far. Cheers to fucking that.

Now that the mushy stuff is out of the way, we thought it fit to relive some of our favourite So Sydney! moments online this year. And let me tell you, narrowing it down to just five was a near impossible feat. From the good, the bad, to the outright damn ugly, we’ve plucked out a few of our best hits to have a double take at.

All I’ll say is, gird your loins.

#5 GET CANCELLED: Temu Tina

Ahh, this again. Back in September, we may or may not have found ourselves in a little hot water with ex-Love Island winner, Tina Provis. It was all thanks to this article. And while we admit that it was a savage take, it was also lowkey kinda funny. Clearly Tina didn’t feel the same way.

Cue trolling of our editor. A lot of it. And can I just say, with insults FAR worse than were ever dished out. This was the first time we got cancelled, and realistically, it probably won’t be the last. Tina, if you’re reading this, we’re sorry. Kind of. Not really.

#4 WTF: *That* Maxim Hot 100 Halloween Party

I don’t think anyone will understand how truly rogue this party was. What started as a total flop somehow made the comeback of a century to a night that we will never be able to erase from our minds.

Last night we went to the Maxim Hot 100 Party. Here’s what went down. #halloween #party #interview #maxim

All I’ll say is this. Picture 200 C-grade influencers and ex-reality TV stars gathered in a sweaty, far too small venue. A giant tuna stands gloriously in the centre, waiting to be sacrificed to the non-carb eaters. It outshines the nearly naked belly dancers. Microphone in hand, we felt like the most popular kids at school. Everyone wanted their 15 seconds, and boy, did they put on a show.

#3 PINCH ME MOMENT: Interviewing Felix Cameron at the Logies

The Logies?! Like, what?! This was WILD. Not only did we score a spot on the red carpet, but we managed to nab an interview with double-winner and inevitable star of the evening, Felix Cameron.

Just four months after launching So Sydney!, this was a major pinch us moment.

@sosydneyau

We chatted to some of Australia’s best new voted talent, Felix Cameron and Lee Halley. Congrats Felix on winning tonights Logie! #TVWeekLogies #sosydney #sydney #australia #interview #redcarpet #logies #thestar

#2 SEXY AF: Meeting Paul Mescal at the Gladiator Premiere

Need we say more? Our editor looks way too happy in this pic from the night.

#1 MEGA VIRAL: The Leah Halton GlamBot TikTok

Did we post this at midnight, in bed, before falling asleep? Maybe. Did we expect to wake up to 11.8 MILLION views. Definitely not.

All we’ll say is a big bloody thank you to Leah Halton for reposting us after the TikTok Awards. It reminded us why we’re doing this: to entertain you. This one was literally insane, and we’re still wracking our brains trying to figure out how tf that happened.

And that’s officially a wrap, kids. Thanks again for a cracking year, and my god are we ready for 2025 and all it brings.
