GENUINELY Ray Hadley angles (again) to be the next MAFS intern during morning chat with expert John Aiken

Yesterday, 2GB’s Ray Hadley announced that after 43 years behind the microphone, he’ll be officially retiring come mid-December.
The decision came as a surprise to many. It was only last year that Hadley renewed his contract which would extend his radio slot to 2026. The Financial Review also reports that his most recent show ratings came in at a whopping 300,000 people each day. In other words, there was no sign of him slowing down any time soon.
But rumour has it there might be a better offer up his sleeve.
While the prominent broadcaster has quickly indicated his waned interest at entering the reality TV sphere, his conversation with MAFS Expert John Aiken this morning might suggest otherwise.
“I have, in the past, offered my services to the producers at MAFS…I want a position on the couch to hammer these people,” he said.
And it appears John might also be onboard with the idea.
“I’m thinking maybe an internship Ray. We start with that and then we move forward…It’s your straight shooting that we need,” the MAFS expert replied.
Despite noting he would “kindly decline” offers to go on shows such as Dancing With The Stars, Hadley noted that it would be “a dream” of his to appear on the show.
It’s also not the first time Hadley’s found a way to wiggle the topic into the conversation. Just last year, the presenter met Aiken by chance in a 2GB studio hallway. He reportedly gave Aiken some “stern advice” as to how to bring controversial contestants Shannon and Harrison back into line.
As to what the future may hold, it’s anyone’s guess. But you can bet we’ll be looking out for ‘Intern Ray Hadley’ in the credits at the end of the first episode screening early next year.
