Ladies, fret not. If dating in Sydney has left you nothing short of mildly traumatised, hope has arrived. And it comes in the form of a ‘Himbo Championship’.
Yes, according to a flyer spotted in the CBD, Sydney is officially hosting a non-performative search for the city’s next top himbo. Because let’s be real, nothing says community spirit quite like a public flex-off near Saint Mary’s Cathedral.

The event kicks off Saturday 8 November at 1pm, and the entry requirements are simple: hunkiness, idiocy, manliness, beefy strength, and optimism. So, essentially, the five pillars of modern masculinity.
While the organisers remain a mystery, the flyer has already become an instant relic of Sydney culture. Sociologists (us) have described it as “the most honest expression of heterosexual struggle since the phrase ‘emotionally unavailable’ was coined”.
